D-Link DWR-957X Router Setup Guide - Easy Step-By-Step Instructions
This guide is for customers who want to set up their D-Link DWR-957X router for the first time.
Steps To Set Up Your D-Link DWR-957X Router
Step 1: Access The Router Settings
- Open the web browser (eg, Chrome, Safari, or Edge).
- Type 10.0.0.2 into the address bar and press Enter.
- The Quick Setup Wizard will appear - this is where you'll configure your internet connection.
The Quick Setup tool is used to configure your internet connection.
Step 2: Choose Your Interface Type
- Choose which WAN interface you want to use:
- 3G/4G (using a SIM card)
- Ethernet WAN (using a fibre or DSL connection)
- Click Test.
- If successful, you'll see: ''Hardware interface connected properly.'' Click Next.
- If unsuccessful:
- For fibre: Ensure the internet cable is plugged into the blue WAN port.
- For LTE: Make sure your SIM card is correctly inserted.
Step 3: Connection Detection
The router will auto-detect your connection type:
- 3G/4G -> Uses DHCP mode.
- Fibre -> Uses either PPPoE or DHCP mode.
A green message will show which mode to use -> Select it and click Next.
Step 4: PPPoE Setup (Only If Required)
- If PPPoE is required:
- Enter your Username and Password provided by your ISP.
- The router will test if your account details are valid.
- If DHCP is detected, the router will automatically skip to Step 5.
Step 5: Wi-Fi Network Settings
Here you can set up your Wi-Fi names (SSID) and passwords:
- SSID 2.4GHz: The name of your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Preshare Key (2.4GHz): The password for your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
- SSID 5GHz: The name of your 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
- Preshare Key (5GHz): The password for your 5GHz Wi-Fi network.
Options:
- Click Back to return to the previous step.
- Click Skip to skip to the Wi-Fi setup (not recommended).
- Click Next to continue.
Step 6: Router Login Credentials
Here you can update the login details for accessing your router settings at 10.0.0.2:
- Admin Name: Your chosen admin username.
- Admin Password: A secure password (no spaces allowed).
- Confirm Admin Password: Re-enter the password.
(Skipping this step is not recommended for security reasons.)
Step 7: Telkom VPN Lite (Optional)
- If required, enter your:
- Site Username
- Site Password (and confirm)
- Site LAN IP/Netmask
Step 8: Review And Apply Settings
- Review all your configuration details carefully.
- If everything looks correct, click Apply to save your settings.
- Use Back if you need to make changes.
Your D-Link DWR-957X router is now set up and ready to connect you to the internet.
