Explanation of how Fixed MTN LTE works

Explanation of how Fixed MTN LTE works

A guideline on MTN Fixed LTE for existing MTN customers.

What is Fixed LTE?
Fixed LTE is a high-speed internet service designed for stationary or fixed-location use. It is not intended for mobile use and must remain at the registered installation address to ensure optimal performance and service quality. The service links the SIM card, router, and location together, meaning you cannot use it in a different area than the one you signed up for.

Can I Use the MTN Uncapped LTE SIM Card and Router Anywhere?

No, the MTN Uncapped LTE SIM card is location-specific and gets locked to a specific tower. This means the SIM card and router must be used at the address where the service was initially set up. Attempting to use the equipment in a different area will not work because the service is tied to a specific location.

What Happens If I Relocate?

If you move to a new location, you can update your address, provided that your new address has coverage. To update your address, you need to contact a call centre agent by dialing 135 from an MTN phone or 083 135 from a non-MTN phone. It's important to note that you can only change your address once every 12 months.

What Happens If I Use My MTN Uncapped LTE SIM Card and Router at a Different Address?

Using your MTN Uncapped LTE SIM card and router at a different address than the one registered will result in the suspension of your service. The equipment must be returned to the registered address for it to function properly again. Once returned to the correct location, it can take up to 30 minutes for the service to be unsuspended and restored.

Summary:

  • MyMTN Fixed LTE Service: Designed for a specific address; SIM, router, and location are linked.
  • Fixed LTE: Intended for stationary use at the registered address.
  • Location-Specific: MTN Uncapped LTE SIM card and router cannot be used in a different area.

  • Relocation: Update your address by contacting a call centre agent. You can change your address once every 12 months.

  • Service Suspension: Using the service at a different address will suspend it. Return the equipment to the registered address to restore service.

By understanding these guidelines, you can ensure a seamless and uninterrupted experience with your MTN Fixed LTE service.
