The problem with signing up for FTTH with multiple ISPs

This article is for clients who would like to sign up for FTTH.

Signing up with multiple ISPs for FTTH:

If you have signed up for or have pre-ordered your FTTH through multiple ISPs (Internet Service Providers), the ISP that processes your address in their system first will have it registered with the FNO. The FNO will take ownership of the address that you used to sign up for fibre, creating an active order. (Only the fibre account owner is able to request cancellation of the pre-order or sign up.)

E.g. When you sign up for fibre with Vox/Vuma, your physical address that you signed up with will be claimed by Vuma under the Vox base, in Vuma's system. This prevents other FNOs (Frogfoot, Balwin, Openserve, Octotel, etc ) and ISPs from being able to provide you with a fibre connection as your physical address has already been claimed by Vox/Vuma.

Changing to another ISP:

If you want to change to another ISP, you will need to cancel your existing order with the original ISP, they will then need to 'release' your address so that you can take a fibre contract with another ISP. This causes a delay in getting you connected with your new ISP since it can take weeks or even months (worst case scenario) to release your address.
