For existing Telkom LTE customers who need to update their banking details or move their monthly debit order to a different date.
Whether your account details have changed or your debit order date just doesn't suit your cash flow anymore, both are easy to sort out. Here's how, and what to keep in mind before you do.
Changing your banking details
If your Telkom LTE service is debited from an account you no longer use, here's how to update it:
Contact Telkom, or log into your Telkom self-service portal.
Security note: Only the account owner can request this change. If the contract is in your name, the request must come from you, especially where a third-party payment agreement is in place. It protects you, and it's non-negotiable.
Changing your Telkom debit order date
Telkom debit orders run on one of five dates each month:
The 5th
The 15th
The 20th
The 25th
The last day of the month (30th/31st)
Pick whichever date suits your cash flow best. One thing to remember: if you change your date mid-billing-cycle, the new date only takes effect from the following cycle, not immediately.
Good to know: rejection and collection fees
Before you settle on a date, make sure the funds will be there when the debit runs. If they're not, there are costs involved:
Rejection fee: If a debit order is returned unpaid on the due date, you're liable for a debit order rejection fee.
Collection costs: Telkom and/or its authorized debt collection agencies may use NAEDO or DebiCheck to collect any arrears amount, and those collection costs are also for your account.
