How to install your Omni Directional Antenna for optimal LTE speeds

[ How to ] install your Omni Directional Antenna for optimal LTE speeds

This article is for customers who would like to know how to install their Omni Directional Antenna.

Setting up and installing your LTE Omni Directional Antenna is a very easy and simple process.

The LTE Omni Directional antenna captures, rebroadcasts and extends the reception from your LTE router, cellular device or wireless access point. The LTE Omni Directional antenna is an easy self-install antenna, no technical know-how is required to set up the antenna. It can be used indoors or outdoors. The antenna is 4G & 5G ready and boosts the signal from your nearest LTE Mobile Tower.

Follow these 4 simple steps to get the most out of your LTE Omni Directional Antenna:

Step 1: Run a speed test: Run an internet speed test to determine what your current internet speed is. This will be used as a benchmark to determine what direction you will receive optimal speeds at in a later step. It is a good idea to run it twice since the results might vary slightly.

Step 2: Locate your nearest cellular tower: There are sources on the internet for coverage maps of the area. The higher intensity of coverage levels are usually where the site is located. Do this so that you can find out which direction the signal is being transmitted to you.

Step 3: Test the signal using your LTE Omni Directional Antenna: Connect your LTE antenna to the router/modem with the cable provided, but do not mount the antenna yet. Do this to find the best signal strength to position and mount your antenna. If the antenna is out of reach (eg: on the roof), it is best to have two people during this process. One to move the antenna and one to check the signal strength on the router. First point the antenna in the direction of where the nearest LTE tower is located and wait for the signal to stabilise. It's best practice to test 360 degrees, even if it seems unnecessary. LTE uses MIMO and since the antenna is Omni Directional, reflections from unexpected directions can actually enhance speed and coverage. Find the best angle and direction to place your antenna according to the strongest signal on your router or by performing a speed test.

Step 4: Mount your LTE Omni antenna: The antenna is shipped with a bracket that allows you to fasten the antenna to a wall – by drilling holes and fixing the connector to the antenna and the wall or by fitting it to a pole.
