This guide is for new Vox fibre clients who have received a TP-Link router (EX511) for self-installation. Follow the steps below to connect your router, run the automated setup, and start using your new Wi-Fi network.
Only start the installation once Vox has confirmed that your fibre line is active. You'll receive this confirmation via email and SMS. Use the same device (phone or laptop) for the entire setup process.
1. Connect your TP-Link router
Plug the power supply into the back of the TP-Link router and switch it on.
Connect the TP-Link router to your fibre box (ONT) using the network cable supplied. Plug the cable into Port 1 on the ONT and into the WAN port on the TP-Link router.
2. Connect your device to the router
Wi-Fi option:
On your phone or laptop, go to your Wi-Fi settings and connect to the network called "Vox_" followed by the last four characters of the router's MAC address, for example, Vox_12AB. You'll find the MAC address on the barcode sticker on the bottom or back of the router. The Wi-Fi password is labelled "Wireless Password" just below the MAC address on the same sticker.
NB: These Wi-Fi details are temporary and will change once the router has completed its setup.
NB: If the Wi-Fi network displayed is anything other than "Vox_" followed by four characters, stop the setup and contact the Vox support team before continuing.
Cable option:
Plug a network cable into any of the free LAN ports (1–4) on the router and connect the other end to your PC or laptop.
3. Start the installation
Once your device is successfully connected to the router, open the configuration link provided in your Vox installation email or SMS.
The next screen you see will be the Self-Install page, which shows the progress of the router setup.
NB: Do NOT unplug the router from the power or the network cable at any time during the setup process.
If the page displays an error, follow the steps provided on that page.
4. Connect to your new Wi-Fi network
Once the router has completed its setup, connect to your new Wi-Fi network. The default settings are:
Wi-Fi name: "Home_WiFi_" followed by the last four characters of the MAC address, for example, Home_WiFi_12AB.
Wi-Fi password: The main account holder's cellphone number.
NB: The MAC address is on the sticker underneath the router.
