Using Yeastar Linkus Mobile or Linkus Desktop Via VPN Connection

This article is for existing Yeastar clients who are experiencing an "Extension Registering" error in Yeastar Linkus.

Yeastar Linkus can be effectively used over a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to enhance security and connectivity. This article will explain how to use Yeastar Linkus mobile and desktop clients via a VPN connection.

What is a VPN:
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, establishes a secure connection between your computer and a remote server owned by a VPN provider. This creates a point-to-point tunnel that encrypts your personal data, masks your IP address, and lets you bypass website blocks and firewalls on the internet.

Common Issue with VPN and Linkus:

When you use a VPN, it masks your IP address, hiding your activity. This can cause the Yeastar PBX system to not recognize your IP address, leading to blocked traffic. As a result, you might encounter the error message "extension registering," preventing you from making or receiving calls.

How to prevent connection issues:

To prevent connection issues when using Yeastar Linkus over a VPN, follow these steps:
Share Your VPN IP Address: Log a ticket here to provide us with your VPN IP.
Whitelist the VPN IP Address: We will whitelist your VPN IP on the Yeastar PBX firewall, allowing traffic from your VPN to be recognized and accepted by the PBX system.
By whitelisting your VPN IP address, you ensure that the Yeastar PBX system can recognise and allow traffic from your VPN, preventing the "extension registering" error and enabling you to make and receive calls without interruption.
