How to change your Telkom fibre D-Link DWR-956M router username and password

This article is for clients that are using the D-Link DWR-956M router that would like to change their router username and password.

Telkom creates a default username and password for your router.

You can find your router login details at the bottom of your router. This is what you will find:

Username: admin

Password: admin

Please note: it is a security risk to leave the default password as admin & admin. It is highly recommended to set your own unique password.

Steps to change the username and password of the router:

Step 1: IP Address

Open your browser and enter the IP address of the router (by default this is 10.0.0.2) into the address bar.

Step 2. Username and Password

When the login page is displayed enter the username and password. Hit "login" and now you should see the control panel of your router.

Note: If you have changed your password already and you cannot remember your password or cannot login, you will need to follow the factory reset procedure to restore the router to its default setting.

Step 3. Management Tab

Navigate to the "Management" tab.

Step 4. Account Management

Select the drop-down labeled "Account Management".

Step 5. Passwords

Then select "Passwords".

You can now update your password. We recommend including capital letters, punctuation and numbers in your password for maximum security. Once you have entered in your new password click 'Apply'.
