This article is for clients who have signed up for Telkom fibre and want to know when they will receive their Telkom fibre router.
If you are wondering about when you will receive your Telkom fibre router, there are 3 possible scenarios you may experience:
Depending on your Fibre Network Operator (FNO), you could receive your Telkom fibre router in 1 of 3 ways. Remember that your fibre network operator could be Openserve, Vuma, Link Africa etc.
Scenario 1:
Telkom will courier your fibre router to your premises before the actual fibre installation process takes place. The fibre installation process involves running a fibre cable into your home as well as the installation of an ONT. (Optical Network Terminal)
Scenario 2:
In some cases, depending on your Fibre Network Operator, the installation technician may provide you with your fibre router on the day of installation, once the fibre installation process is complete.
Scenario 3:
Once the technician from your chosen Fibre Network Operator has successfully installed the infrastructure for your fibre connection at your premises, there will be handover to Telkom, your internet service provider (ISP)
