Telkom Month-to-Month vs Contract: What’s the Difference?

This article is for Telkom LTE customers who want to understand the difference between a SIM-only deal and a SIM + Router deal, including the contract terms, cancellation rules, and hardware options that apply to each.

A SIM-only deal is a month-to-month contract

There is no fixed term and no hardware involved. You can cancel at any time by giving Telkom 30 days notice, and there are no penalty fees. You will not be liable for any remaining subscription fees on the package.

A SIM + Router deal is a fixed-term contract

This deal runs over 24 or 36 months. If you cancel, you will need to give Telkom 30 days notice, and you will be liable for the remaining cost of your router. The exact cancellation cost is calculated pro rata at the time you request the cancellation.

Pro rata simply means you pay for the router installments still outstanding. For example, if your router costs R90 per month over 24 months and you cancel after 10 months, the remaining 14 installments, amounting to R1,260, would be payable. Telkom will confirm the exact amount when you request the cancellation.
