How to get fibre in your complex / estate or apartment

This article is for clients that lives in a complex/estate or apartment who want to sign up for FTTH.

Fibre Installation Requirements

To get fibre internet to your complex, the Body Corporate or Homeowners Association must give consent to the fibre network operator (FNO) to install fibre. This is due to exclusivity agreements to keep infrastructure neat and organised.

Steps to Get Fibre in Your Complex or Estate:

  1. Check with Your Body Corporate/Homeowners Association: Find out which FNO is installed or will be installed in your complex or estate before placing an order. This avoids ordering from a network not available in your area.
  2. Survey and Proposal: The FNO will conduct a site survey and present a proposal on how the fibre will be installed.
  3. Approval and Installation: After getting approval, the fibre provider will install the necessary infrastructure, including a central distribution point and multi-dwelling unit (MDU) distribution boxes.
  4. Ordering Fibre Service: Once the infrastructure is in place, residents can order fibre service from their desired Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Installation Process:

  1. Survey: The FNO sends a representative to perform a site survey and determine the best route for installation.
  2. Plans: These plans are then submitted to the Body Corporate/Homeowners Association for approval.
  3. Kick-off Meeting: After approval, a meeting is held to discuss the installation process and escalation procedures.
  4. Installation: The installation is scheduled, and the fibre infrastructure is built into the complex/estate.
  5. Sign-off: Once installation is complete, a final inspection and sign-off are conducted with the Body Corporate/Homeowners Association.

Choosing the Right Fibre Network

Even if a fibre coverage map shows availability for a particular FNO like Vumatel, it doesn't guarantee service in your specific complex due to exclusivity clauses. Always verify with your Body Corporate/Homeowners Association which FNO is authorised in your area.
